Macintosh PDF Creation

Download necessary files. Includes Acrobat Distiller job options and a printer description. You will need to have a full version of Adobe Acrobat and Distiller already installed on your system.

Once Downloaded decompress with Stuffit Expander to your Desktop.

1. Copy the printer description (ApogeeX.ppd) to the following directory:
/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/en.lproj
This will allow the printer description to appear in your programs.

2. Launch QuarkXpress and open a document. Choose File/Print

3. Follow the screen shots below for your settings.

Make sure to Choose the Agfa ApogeeX Printer Description.
Also, Set the Page Size to accomodate the bleeds. Generally .25" greater on Width and Height, assuming a .125" Bleed allowance.

Do not use Composite CMYK

Skip the Layers Tab

Turn OPI OFF. We do not want to use it.

Select the "Printer" button at the bottom left. The 3rd Dropdown, choose Output Options, Save as File and PostScript. Click the "Save" Button and navigate to your Desktop, save then print.
You have now created a postscript file on your desktop.

Launch Acrobat Distiller. Select Settings/Add Adobe PDF Settings.

Navigate to your desktop and choose the LakeLithoPDFSettings.joboptions file and select "Open".

Select the new settings from the drop down menu.

Find the Postscript file created previously on your desktop and drop onto Distiller. this should create a Print Ready PDF.
